Dear Potential New Member,

We are so excited to welcome you to the University of Iowa’s Fraternity and Sorority Life! The Panhellenic recruitment experience is both a process and a journey. It is the beginning of your collegiate experience, and finding your letters also involves discovering yourself. Throughout your collegiate years you will change so much, guided by the assistance of your sisters and community. This is your opportunity; an opportunity to show who you are, decide who you want to be, and fully embrace the woman you will become.

When we strip the recruitment process down to its bones, it is all about forming authentic relationships. This deeper connection to the women around you, the community you will find your home in, and your heart at the University. The relationship with your chapter and its members will help nourish your growth through its values of leadership, scholarship, friendship, and service. They will be there for all your good moments, and when you undoubtedly face hardships, they will be there to support you and guide you through whatever it may be.

This process is designed for you. While it is unbeknownst to you now, when you run home to your chapter on Bid Day, it will suddenly click. It is an overwhelming feeling that only grows as you learn more about your chapter's values and the women to who you’ll now be connected for life. Our 14 Panhellenic chapters hold a profound connection with one another. It truly makes Iowa City feel so much smaller; you’ll recognize faces as you walk through the Pentacrest and find friends in classes when you’d least expect it.

Speaking from experience, we know how frightening diving into college and the recruitment process at the same time may be. You will have helping hands throughout all of it: Rho Gammas there to guide you, new friends you’ll meet in line, sisters there to welcome you home, chapters who will be there for it all, and, not to mention, a trio of a Recruitment Vice Presidents who care about you more than you know!

Regardless of where you’re coming from, there is a home for you within the Panhellenic Community. You will hear the phrase “trust the process” frequently, but it does ring true time and time again. Stay true to your values and trust yourself to find your home. Your sorority experience is only beginning, so embrace it fully!

We are humbled to be serving as your Vice Presidents for Recruitment. Thank you for trusting us to help you find your homes!
