Multicultural Greek Council

The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) governs 9 multicultural fraternities and sororities that represent the Latinx, Asian, and LGBTQ+ communities, yet are inclusive to all cultural identities. The Multicultural Greek Council was established here at the University of Iowa on February 16, 2010  by members of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc. and Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc., both of which were founded at the University of Iowa in 1986 and 1990, respectively. Since then, seven other incredible and progressive organizations have joined our wonderful council, making it both the newest and fastest growing council on campus. Throughout the years, the MGC has been both a home to hundreds of individuals from many different cultural identities, as well as been a platform to learn about, teach, appreciate and empower them. We have had an absolutely unforgettable first 10 years, but it’s only just the beginning for us.
