Nathan Robinson  (Nate) is a Junior Sociology Major from Woodridge Illinois. He is an active member of the Alpha Theta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, which is part of the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

Nate joined the Fraternity & Sorority Life community after meeting Alphas at the beginning of his first-year who took him under their wing. After joining Alpha Phi Alpha, his brothers connected him to a job as a Student Success coordinator, which allows him to connect with the University of Iowa Community and build on his leadership skills. Due to the small size of his fraternity, Nate and the other members of Alpha Phi Alpha fill multiple leadership positions, which gives them a great opportunity to learn every side of the organization!

Alpha Phi Alpha has instilled a strong emphasis on academics and hold the second best grade point average in all of FSL. Nate and his brothers push each other to excel academically through internal challenges amongst themselves.

Nationally, Alpha Phi Alpha has stressed advocating for the black community since it’s founding. This precedent is one Nate carries on in the Alpha Theta chapter through their work with “Go to High School, Go to College” to provide information and strategies to African-American men as to the difference competing high school and college can make as well as how to achieve that. Nate and the fraternity also work on the initiative, “A Voteless People is a Hopeless People” which has aided in decreasing the barriers to vote for African-Americans since the 1930s.
