Interfraternity Council

History

The story of the University of Iowa Fraternity and Sorority Community started in 1866 with the first fraternity, Beta Theta Pi.

One hundred and fifty-three years later, we are a community of over 3,400 students who are members of one of our 49 fraternities and sororities. This includes 20 Interfraternity Council chapters, 6 National Pan-Hellenic Council chapters, 9 Multicultural Greek Council chapters, and 14 Panhellenic Council chapters.
