The Office of Institutional Equity (OIE)

The Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) coordinates the university's response to reports of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct, including dating/domestic violence, and stalking when those reports involve members of or visitors to the university community. Whatever your connection—whatever brings you to this website—you are not alone as you seek to address the problems you're facing. And OIE is here to assist. Iowa City Police Department Victim Services Coordinator

The Victim Services Coordinator position at the Iowa City Police Department focuses on building connections and partnerships with the community and providing services to all victims of crime.  As a liaison between the Iowa City Police Department and victims of crime, I provide follow-up outreach and crisis intervention to those impacted by trauma.  I validate and meet with victims of crime, build trust, and empower them to move forward by providing support and resources as we strive for excellence in service.   By providing victim rights education to community members, including immigrants, refugees, LGBTQIA members, and underserved populations, connecting them to agencies that support all cultures, and familiarizing them with the criminal justice system will help bridge gaps in service.

Anyone who has experienced a sexual assault can go to a hospital for a free medical exam. This exam and any information collected is confidential and is not billed to your insurance company.  It is also a person’s choice to report to law enforcement. Making a report does not mean that you must pursue charges. This decision is completely yours to make.
